I just purchased 3 of her ebooks, and teaching myself embroidery. This book is so easy to use, photos are very helpful and I can follow along. She even show photos of the back side of stitches! And it’s more than stitches, it’s about notions and color wheel, which is helpful. This book is worthy of owning to use anytime, whether you’re a beginner or need to refresh the basics.

I have bought several embroidery books online, sight unseen, and been bitterly disappointed, but NOW, I have Sarah’s Second Edition, and will never have to buy another embroidery book. This was obviously written just for me, as I could not find one thing I would alter, omit, or add. I have it on a small tablet, which fits in my bag for class, and I am looking forward to showing it off to the other students as the only book they’ll ever need. Thank you, Sarah!

    [2nd Edition Review]
Happy to have the second edition! I was so sad I missed the email for the discount by 1 day, but it was still worth every cent! I like that the pictures are clear, in color, and Sara explains things well. I have bought quite a few books in the last year (I started embroidery during the quarantine like so many others), and this is my go-to for sure! As much as I love hard copy books, having it on my phone means that no matter where I’m stitching, the book and it’s plethora of information is only a few finger swipes away! I love that it’s organized by stitch type, and I whole heartedly appreciate that the PDF is high quality, containing links to the stitches when clicking on key words or on the images of the stitch itself. Love love LOVE! Thank you Sara!

[2nd edition] I bought the first edition when it first came out, and it was really wonderful, so rich and detailed, with an incredible amount of content. I wondered if it could really be worth it to get the second edition. ❤️❤️ I bought it a couple of days ago and am just AMAZED by how much new material is in there. What I really love about Sarah’s approach to embroidery is that it isn’t too fussy. The book has a nice conversational tone, the instructions and diagrams are clear and easy to understand, and the short informative sections about where the stitches come from and how they relate to other similar types of embroidery are interesting and informative. This is not your average embroidery book.

I have and loved the first addition, but bought the second anyway. I am glad I did. It really is better and MORE in every way. Please keep updating and improving it. I love the little stories on particular types of embroidery, especially international forms not well known in the USA. Please expand to include more of these, especially more examples of pattern darning, sashiko, Indian embroidery, and Bargello. I also love seeing examples from around the world.

[Review for the first edition] Essential book for learning. The photo index has proved very useful- i use it to find a likely stitch for my project. Instructions are clear as well- the only one I’ve had trouble with was the bullion stitch and i ended up needing a video tutorial for it. This book is an excellent resource and i recommend it!

[Review for the first edition] Dear Sarah, Thank you for this awesome offer! I have enjoyed your newsletters with the instructions for so many beautiful stitches. I did download the preview and was convinced to order the whole book after looking at the smart manner in which it is written and organized.
I look forward to using it, especially when I need inspiration for a project which I am certain will be easily found.
Your work is beautiful and your instructions are thorough, thank you, again.

[Review for the first edition] So, I’ve been using Sarah’s website for a few years now. It has more hand embroidery stitches than I have ever found, and that includes published books that claim to have “all the stitches you’ll ever need.” (Their idea of “need” and mine are very different, apparently.) I bought the book to satisfy my desire for more stitches and, my god, did Sarah deliver! The best part about this book is the picture index in the back, though, because there’s nothing worse than going, “I know what the stitch looks like, but I don’t know what it’s called!”

[Review for the first edition] Love, love, love this book! It was exactly what I was looking for to help me hone my skills. The pictures are amazing and since it is a pdf, it is easy to zoom in to see what the stitches look like. Also, the step-by-step pictures for each stitch are clear and easy to follow. Would totally recommend to anyone who is wanting to learn stitches and expand their skills.

[Review for the first edition] I completed an online embroidery course during lockdown, I’m not very good but I found the embroidery incredibly relaxing and satisfying. I bought a few books to explore further and then I found this one- I just wish I’d found it first! This is the clearest most beautifully illustrated embroidery book I’ve come across both before and since buying this one- I’m a bookaholic and I always want more books but honestly, I have found NOTHING a that even comes close to this one. The instructions are simple and very easy to follow, the images are clear and relate closely to the written instructions, the examples are wonderful and the background cultural information is fascinating. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I’m now working my way stitch by stitch through the whole book and having a wonderful time doing it. This has none of the usual ebook flaws and is very easy to manage and has amazing clarity. It’s well indexed in two forms, by name and by picture of the stitch, brilliant! One hint though, makes sure you save your PDF somewhere where yo can easily find it, I closed it and couldn’t find it again when it first arrived. I had an almost immediate reply when I sent a panicky email to the website, incredibly helpful, very clear instructions. What a wonderful find, love it!

[Review for the first edition] This is a fantastic book! I embroidered as a child and just picked it up again at 55. I thot all these yrs I knew how to do a straight stitch, yet mine didn’t look like others. So I looked it up (easily, btw) and found out I wasn’t making it right and learned how to correct it. It is soooo easy to use. Well organized. Great pics and descriptions. Would love to have it in a bound book too!! I would use both. Any chances?????
