Anklet Stitch

Anklet Stitch is also known as

Puntada de Tobillera [ES]

About the Anklet Stitch

The Anklet Stitch resembles the anklets worn by women in India to adorn their ankles, which explains the name. It is a decorative stitch that can be combined with other stitches for variations. You can also use this as a base for various weaving and  lacing—try it! Work between three parallel lines to help with this tutorial.

How to do the Anklet Stitch

Fig 1: Start by making a Fly Stitch. Fig 2: Make the tail a bit slanted inwards. Bring out the needle between the ‘V’, as shown.
Fig 3: Make another Fly Stitch as you would in Plaited Fly Stitch. Make the tail angled inwards so that it meets the other tail. Fig 4: One section of the Anklet Stitch would look like this.
Fig 5: Continue making the next section by bringing out the next stitch between the previous ‘V’ and sharing the stitch point of the earlier stitch. Fig 6: Continue with the process.
Fig 7: The stitches will overlap each other and share stitch points. Fig 8: A finished row of the Anklet Stitch would look like this. It takes on gentle curves easily.
