How to do the Twisted Lattice Stitch

The Twisted Lattice Stitch is a lovely stitch using a simple weaving technique. This weaving holds down the laid thread without passing through the fabric every time. Use the play of colors to fill patterns. Make note that you need to weave the threads up and down each other while laying the base.


Fig 1: Lay rows of vertical straight stitches to cover the pattern. Now, lay the horizontal stitches while passing it under and over the vertical stitches, as shown. .	Fig 2: After this weaving, we bring out a contrasting thread from one corner of the laid stitch. Pass it under the first stitch, as shown.

Fig 3: Turn at the intersection and pass it again under the laid thread, as shown.	Fig 4: Take the needle in through the corner and come out again through the next. Now, pass the needle under the stitch, as shown.

Fig 5: Keep weaving up and down in the laid thread without plucking the fabric underneath.	Fig 6: Do the weaving one row at a time, and cover all the parts of the laid thread.

Fig 7: When you reach the end of the row, take the needle in through the corner of the row, and come out from the next one below it. Then, continue the weaving process.	Fig 6: Once the whole pattern is done, it will look like this. While the color of the woven thread will dominate, the laid thread will peek out from in between.
