Half Herringbone Stitch

About the Half Herringbone Stitch

The Half Herringbone Stitch is a variation with the crosses meeting only on one side of the stitch. You might note that this is a hybrid of the Cretan Stitch and the Herringbone Stitch. To make this possible, the stitch is worked between three parallel stitch lines. An embroidery, from  India, called the Chemanthy Work is based on this stitch. The Half Herringbone Stitch is worked in a circular pattern to create flowers that resemble chrysanthemums. This stitch is worked in different variations in
this embroidery.
