whipped satin stitch

Like many other whipped stitches, a contrasting thread is ‘whipped’ over the satin stitch.
You need to know the satin stitch to be able to do this stitch.

Done over a foundation of chain stitch, this stitch gives a whipped appearance and looks best if done with a contrasting colored thread.

NOTE:
Do not pluck the fabric below while ‘whipping’ each chain. Use a blunt needle to help you.
