Temproidery

On Earth Day 2019, I want to present a tutorial on ‘Temproidery’ or Temperatures with Embroidery.

Some of you might already be familiar with making temperature blankets where the average temperatures of each day are translated into color codes and stitched in a sequence. The end result reveals a beautiful ‘rainbow’ colored pattern based on that year’s temperature! How cool is that!

I want to present this concept in three lessons which are independent of each other. Each lesson will use the same concept but purpose it differently. Hope you enjoy it.

So, here are what you need to begin this fairly easy project.

1. Embroidery hoop

2. Pencil & Scissors

3. Threads

4. Needle

5. Fabric
  1. Embroidery hoop – This is optional. But if you want to use, size 8 would be good.
  2. Scissors- a small one and a Pencil to draw – Not too sharp.
  3. Embroidery floss or Perle Cotton threads- various colors in the temproidery chart.
  4. Embroidery needle- ideally size #7, #8 or #9 / tapestry needle – medium sized
  5. Fabric- normal cotton fabric, washed and ironed.

A guide to Temproidery using the changing temperature of Earth since 1850:

    Hi Sarah
Just now discovered your site via Wikipedia and I love your work!
I’m intrigued by the Tempbroidery concept, but the image is not visible, and the “Continue…” link is not working. Is there a problem on the site, or is it likely an issue at my end?
    Thanks
    Janine
